Samsung is currently developing an innovative smartphone that features a unique tri-fold design, often referred to as the Galaxy G Fold by various publications. The company initially hinted at this device during the Galaxy S25 launch event in January 2025, although specific details were not provided at that time. More recently, during the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 on July 9, a Samsung representative confirmed that the tri-fold smartphone is ready for mass production.
Despite this progress, Samsung has indicated that it is still evaluating the product’s feasibility, particularly in terms of market demand. A representative noted that the concept of a tri-fold device has been in development for some time, but the company is now focused on understanding consumer interest in this new form factor.
As of now, discussions regarding the tri-fold smartphone are ongoing within Samsung. According to a report from The Bell Korea, production of the Galaxy G Fold is anticipated to begin in September of this year, with a potential launch in South Korea and China planned for the fourth quarter. This limited production run will allow Samsung to assess market demand before considering a broader release.
Leaked information suggests that the Galaxy G Fold may boast impressive specifications, including a 10-inch OLED display, a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 200MP main camera, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x zoom, a 12MP wide-angle camera, and a 10MP front camera. The expected price for this device is around $2,900.
