Apple has recently opened the iOS 26 beta for public download and installation, following a month of exclusive beta testing for developers. This release comes shortly after the rollout of the fourth developer beta version of iOS 26.
Users should be aware that this beta version is still undergoing finalization, meaning that the overall experience may not be fully polished. However, those willing to test the new features ahead of the official release can expect several noteworthy enhancements.
Among the highlights of iOS 26 is a new Liquid Glass design, which, despite some controversy regarding its transparency, has seen continuous improvements based on user feedback. This design refreshes the interface in areas such as the lock screen, home screen, and control center.
For iPhone 15 Pro users and newer models, Apple has introduced a ChatGPT recognition feature, enabling users to inquire about content displayed on their screens. Another significant upgrade is the Live Translate feature, which automatically translates text and audio during Messages, Phone, and FaceTime conversations.
Apple Music users will benefit from features such as the ability to quickly pin favorite songs and create shortcuts to artists, albums, and playlists with a single tap. Additionally, the Messages app will receive enhancements, including the introduction of polls, support for wallpapers, and improved sender filtering options.
It’s important to note that starting with iOS 26, Apple will discontinue support for the iPhone XR and iPhone XS/XS Max models. Alongside the iOS 26 beta, Apple has also released the first public beta versions of iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26 for users of iPads, Macs, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. Before installing the beta, users are advised to back up their devices.
