Apple’s Password app arrives on iPhone, iPad and Mac

Apple has announced that they will be introducing a dedicated password manager app in the upcoming major releases of macOS, iPadOS, visionOS, and iOS. This app will also be accessible on Windows through iCloud. The new service, based on iCloud Keychain, will directly compete with leading industry players like LastPass and 1Password.

The Passwords app will allow users to easily organize and manage various types of logins, such as banking and social media passwords. Moreover, users will have the convenience of using Face ID, Touch ID, and autofill to streamline the login process. Previously, Apple offered a password manager as part of its settings, but the new app is positioned as a more user-friendly option for those integrated into the Apple ecosystem.

As of now, Apple has not released any further details about the new password manager app.
