Foldable iPhone will be smaller than Galaxy Z Fold7 but has a ‘secret weapon’

Recent reports indicate that Apple is developing a foldable iPhone, which is expected to be named the iPhone Fold. Unlike its competitors, such as Samsung, Apple appears to be taking a distinct approach by not participating in the trend of larger devices.

The anticipated foldable iPhone is said to feature a compact design, with a 7.7-inch main display and a 5.5-inch secondary screen, according to information from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station. This size difference highlights Apple’s strategy to create a more portable device compared to leading models like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (8 inches) and Oppo Find N5 (8.12 inches).

Apple seems to prioritize user convenience and familiarity by adopting a 4:3 aspect ratio resembling that of the iPad mini. This design aims to provide users with an optimal space for work and entertainment while ensuring the device remains easy to handle, avoiding the bulkiness often associated with larger foldable devices.

In terms of specifications, the foldable iPhone is expected to be thinner than its competitors, measuring between 9 and 9.5 mm. Although it is slightly thicker than rival models, this is considered a promising achievement for the first generation of foldable technology.

However, Apple fans may need to wait until 2026 to see the launch of this device. This delay is attributed to Apple’s commitment to perfectionism, particularly in developing a nearly crease-free screen panel, which is a common issue in current foldable smartphones.
