In response to GPT-5, billionaire Elon Musk offers Grok 4 for free to all users

xAI has recently launched its latest artificial intelligence (AI) product, Grok 4, developed by Elon Musk, now available for free to all users. This release follows a brief period during which the model was accessible to SuperGrok and Premium+ users, occurring just after the debut of GPT-5.

Grok 4 can be accessed through the grok.com web platform as well as mobile applications. It showcases significant enhancements in speed and performance compared to earlier versions, utilizing reinforcement learning technology alongside integration with web search engines to deliver more accurate responses. Users are required to manually select their desired model from the available options to utilize the new features.

The Grok 4 model operates on the Colossus cluster, which consists of over 200,000 GPUs, enabling it to execute advanced learning algorithms. In various tests assessing logical reasoning and automated decision-making, Grok 4 has demonstrated remarkable performance.

In the ARC-AGI V2 test, Grok 4 achieved an accuracy rate of 15.9%, significantly outpacing Claude Opus, which scored 8.5%. In a simulation known as Vending-Bench, where the AI participates in managing a virtual business, Grok 4 reported “earnings” of $4,694 with 4,569 sales, far exceeding the performance of Claude Opus 4, which made $2,077 and 1,412 sales, as well as the average results from other participants, which were $844 and 344 sales.

Additionally, xAI offers a separate subscription-based version called Grok 4 Heavy, designed to support multi-agent interactions. This version has excelled academically, scoring 61.9% in the USAMO’25 and becoming the first model to surpass the 50.7% benchmark on the Humanity’s Last Exam text test.

According to xAI, these accomplishments highlight Grok 4’s advanced capabilities in handling complex logic and analysis tasks, a result of extensive reinforcement learning and the integration of proprietary xAI tools.
